Photoshop Express premiered last week, and it looks very promising. What is it and what should you be aware of before you use it? |
Keep in mind that this is not a Photoshop replacement. While you can't work in layers or anything too fancy, you will be able to adjust exposure, white balance and hue. You can touch up blemishes or even distort your image. You can also create your own gallery to show off your images. You can get your own personal URL and create great looking slideshows for sharing, too. What is the downside? Well, you might want to review the terms of service before you upload any images. That's because when you upload your images to the service's "publicly accessible areas," the terms say, "you grant Adobe a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, derive revenue or other remuneration from, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other Materials or works in any format or medium now known or later developed." However, the terms state that "Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content." Due to complaints about these terms, the Photoshop Express team released the following statement: We've heard your concerns about the terms of service for Photoshop Express beta. We reviewed the terms in context of your comments - and we agree that it currently implies things we would never do with the content. Therefore, our legal team is making it a priority to post revised terms that are more appropriate for Photoshop Express users. We will alert you once we have posted new terms. Thank you for your feedback on Photoshop Express beta and we appreciate your input. Since the terms have not yet been modified as of this writing, you might want to double check them before you upload any of your images.
